ESC Grand Final

FINAL – May 26th 2012
Six songs are guaranteed a place in the Final: last year’s winner Azerbaijan plus the “Big Five”. Partial draw for those countries.   The top ten songs from each of those semi finals qualify for the Grand Final.
Full draw will be done after the two semi finals.
26 songs will be competing for the Concours Eurovision de la Chanson 2012.
 
1st) UNITED KINGDOM
Internal selection by the BBC chose 75-year old Engelbert Humperdinck to sing “Love Will Set You Free”.
 
9th) FRANCE
The Indonesian-born French singer/songwriter Anggun was internally selected by France Televisions to sing “Echo” (You And I). The song was revealed at the MIDEM in Cannes 29th January 2012.
 
10th) ITALY
National selection, Festival della canzone italiana di Sanremo, was held on 18th February 2012.
Singer Nina Zilli was selected, she sang “Per Sempre” (Forever).
Public broadcaster RAI said at the time that picked Nina’s song in the 2012 ESC might be a different to that which she sang at Festival di Sanremo !
And so it came to pass.
A month later it was announced that she would sing “L’Amore È Femmina.”
 
13th) AZERBAIJAN (Host nation)
Sabina Babayeva will sing “When The Music Dies.” The songwriters are the same team behind last year’s winner Running Scared
 
19th) SPAIN
RTVE internal selection chose Pastora Solento singing “Quédate conmigo”.
 
20th) GERMANY
National selection, Unser Star Für Baku, selected “Standing Still” sung by Roman Lob on 16th February 2012.
